Printing & Finishing Capabilities

Digital Printing

One significant advantage of digital printing is its ability to perform variable data printing (VDP). VDP allows for the customization of each printed piece with unique text, images, or graphics. This is commonly used for personalized direct mail campaigns, event invitations, and promotional materials.

Digital printing offers fast turnaround times compared to traditional printing methods like offset printing. Since there are no plates to create or setup times required, digital files can be sent to the printer and produced almost immediately.

Cost-Effectiveness for short runs because there are no setup costs associated with creating printing plates. This makes it suitable for on-demand printing, small batches, or personalized printing jobs.

Digital printing technology has advanced significantly in recent years, allowing for high-quality print output with sharp detail, vibrant colors, and smooth gradients. While digital printing may not always match the color accuracy and consistency of offset printing, the quality is still impressive for most applications.

Digital printing is used across a wide range of applications, including business cards, stationery, flyers, brochures, sell sheets, marketing collateral, direct mail pieces, postcards, variable data printing for personalized campaigns, short-run packaging and labels, photo prints, fine art reproductions, and posters.

Offset Printing

Offset printing is a widely used printing technique where ink is transferred from a metal plate to a rubber blanket, and then onto the printing surface. It produces sharp and clean images with consistent color reproduction and excellent detail. It can be used to print on a wide variety of surfaces, including paper, cardboard, metal, plastic, and more. Offset printing becomes more cost-effective as the quantity of prints increases, making it ideal for large print runs. It also allows for precise color matching using Pantone color inks, ensuring accurate reproduction of specific colors.

Overall, offset printing is a versatile and reliable printing method that is widely used for producing high-quality prints for a variety of applications, including books, magazines, brochures, packaging, and more.

Finishing

Print finishing options encompass a variety of techniques and processes applied to printed materials after they have been printed to enhance their appearance, durability, and functionality. Here are some common print finishing options:

  • Applying a thin layer of transparent plastic film (laminate) over the printed surface to protect it from moisture, wear, and tear. Lamination can be glossy, matte, or satin, and it provides a smooth and durable finish.
  • Applying a clear coating (varnish) over the printed surface to enhance its appearance and protect it from scuffing, scratching, and fading. Varnish can be glossy, matte, or satin, and it adds depth and sheen to the printed materials.
  • Applying a clear liquid coating to the printed surface and then curing it with ultraviolet (UV) light. UV coating provides a high-gloss finish that is resistant to scratches, scuffing, and fading. It also enhances the vibrancy of colors and adds a premium look and feel to the printed materials.
  • Creating raised or recessed areas on the printed surface by pressing the paper against a metal die. Embossing and debossing adds texture, dimension, and visual interest to the printed materials, making them stand out and feel more tactile.
  • Applying metallic or colored foil to specific areas of the printed surface using heat and pressure. Foil stamping adds a shiny and reflective finish that catches the light and draws attention to the printed materials. It is often used for logos, text, and decorative elements to create a luxurious and upscale look.
  • Cutting the printed materials into custom shapes and designs using a sharp steel blade (die). Die cutting allows for precise and intricate shapes to be created, adding visual interest and creativity to the printed materials.
  • Creating small, evenly spaced holes along a straight or curved line on the printed materials. Perforation allows for easy tearing or separation of sections, such as coupons, tickets, or reply cards, from the main printed piece.
  • Carbon copy printed sheet pads, also known as NCR (no carbon required) pads or duplicate/triplicate/quadruplicate pads, are stationary items consisting of multiple sheets of paper with a coating that allows for the transfer of writing or printing from one sheet to another.
