Custom Options

We offer a wide range of customization options to make your catalogs, booklets, and magazines stand out from your competitors and reflect your brand. From choosing the right paper stock and finishes to incorporating special printing techniques such as embossing, foil stamping, and spot UV coating, we’ll help you create printed materials that leave a lasting impression.

Binding Options

Depending on your preferences and budget, we offer a variety of binding options for your printed materials. Choose from saddle stitching, perfect binding, wire-o binding, spiral binding, or hardcover binding to achieve the look and functionality you desire.

The most common format of a magazine is the perfect bound. Perfect-bound magazines are glued and stapled along the spine. These magazines have a clean look and lay flat while open, making them great for reading.

Another popular magazine format is the saddle stitch. Saddle-stitched magazines are stapled at the folds in the spine. Saddle-stitch magazines are cheaper to print.

Your decision regarding which option to choose depends on whether there will be heavy usage of your book, whether readers will be writing in the book, whether you need the book to lay flat, whether you need the book for a presentation, and how much you want to spend.

After your catalogs, booklets, or magazines are printed and we add the finishing touches, we’ll carefully pack and ship them to your desired location. Whether you need local delivery or nationwide shipping – all shipping costs are included in your quote.

Paper Options

  • Gloss: this is a coated sheet that is very common in magazine and catalog printing. This coating has the highest sheen of the three options. A popular choice for fashion, food and travel magazines, gloss paper is semi-reflective with a sheen that allows colors to really pop off the page.
  • Matte/Silk/Satin: these three terms are used interchangeably. This is a coated sheet that has a flat look or a very low sheen to it. Matte paper is the more muted of the paper types. Matte paper is generally a bit easier on the eyes and works well for legibility.
  • Uncoated: this paper does not have a coating on it. It has a very flat look to it and is used in printing books and coloring books or anywhere else that writability is a priority. Uncoated paper is any paper type that doesn’t have coating filled between its layers. Because this paper type is a bit rougher and has an unfilled porous nature, printing images on this paper will generally result in slightly softer colors. Uncoated paper is still partially coated.

Paper Stock Weight Recommendations

We recommend using 100# text on the text pages and 80# cover on the cover pages.

Proofing Options

We understand that time is of the essence when it comes to printing deadlines. With our streamlined production processes and efficient workflow, we’re able to offer fast turnaround times without compromising on quality. Whether you have a tight deadline or need expedited shipping, we’ll work tirelessly to meet your timeline.

Before proceeding with the final printing, we’ll provide you with digital proofs and mock-ups for your review and approval. This allows you to double-check the layout, content, and design elements to ensure everything is perfect before we proceed with production. A physical proof is a hard copy of the project that is printed out and shipped to you for you to confirm color via FEDEX, we supply a return envelope, and we will begin production when we receive the approved proof back. We use this proof for color matching, and we want to ensure that we are both viewing the same piece.

Or we offer a PDF file that we send to you to confirm the files on the project. This is the most expeditious way to proof and approve a project.

FAQs

Should I choose spiral or wire binding for my booklet?

Spiral binding is the process of binding pages together with a plastic coil that is inserted into holes along the edge of paper pages. There are also a variety of colors available for spiral binding when requested. It is effective for documents from 1 up to 300 pages.

Spiral bound printing is generally used for booklets or catalogs that need to lay flat and referred to often.

Wire binding or wire-O binding is also available in many different color options, as well as many different wire lengths. It all depends on the type of printing project you have. However, wire-o booklets have a lower page count limit than spiral bounds.

Wire binding gives a much more professional look than spiral binding does. Because the binding is made up of metal for wire binding, it’s generally used in formal presentations or very professional settings.

How important is a strong cover image?

Your magazine or catalog cover is the first thing people will see. Most of them will decide to open and explore your magazine because they like what they see on the cover. For this reason alone, it’s good to make sure that your magazine cover leaves a strong first impression. It is well worth the effort to pick the best one you can get. Some designers print out several different options and post them in a break room to get feedback from other staff employees.

Besides grabbing people’s attention, your cover photo needs to show a story related to your content. Try to pick a cover which points to the most interesting story in the magazine. You should also try to use colors that are pleasant to look at. The most important thing is to get your cover photo in high quality and in the appropriate resolution, before the magazine printing process starts.
